If you’ve ever needed content for your site or blog, then you may well have come across the term PLR – private label rights,
The idea is that you buy articles, for example, that somebody else has already written, and all you need to do is add that article to your site – because you also bought the right to claim that content as your own.
Why Would You Want To Buy PLR Content?
There are several advantages to using PLR materials, including:
- While PLR material was originally offered as just articles, these days, you can find pretty much any type of content you might need (e.g. articles, blog posts, emails, entire courses, audio, videos, graphics, workbooks, checklists, presentations).
- It saves you the time and effort required to do the necessary research.
- It saves you the time and effort of actually writing the article (or creating whatever content type you need).
- You can use what you purchased as is, or you can choose to personalize it by making changes (e.g. so it fits in with your “voice”).
- It lets you add content to your site faster than if you did it all yourself.
- And you can find really cheap PLR, as well as really expensive PLR. Part of the difference can be based on how many copies of that content are being sold – the fewer the copies that are licensed, the more expensive the PLR will be.
- It can be very cost-effective when you take into account all the research and writing that goes into (high-quality) PLR, and the fact that you are effectively sharing the cost with everybody else who buys those same materials. (This is why it’s different to hiring a ghostwriter, who is working for you and only you, which means you bear all of the costs.)
The Problems With PLR Content
The main problem with PLR material is the variable quality – some of it is really, really bad. Not quite “infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters” bad, but getting there in some cases.
Giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe this is a deliberate attempt to force you to edit the material so that it’s unique to you.
But being realistic (or cynical), it is more likely that the people creating that PLR content are not native speakers or writers of your language.
And it shows – there will be typing errors, spelling mistakes, bad grammar, phrases that do not sound natural, and in some cases, the information may be inaccurate (and potentially dangerous, as I wrote about recently).
So, How Do You Know Who To Trust?
Over the past dozen years or so, I have bought a ton of PLR material from a whole bunch of sellers, including people I’d never previously heard of, and some that were reasonably well known in the marketing world.
And there is little correlation between the popularity or “fame” of the vendor, or the cost, and the quality of the products.
Finding the good providers is largely a matter of trial and error, unless, of course, somebody else shares their trusted sources with you – as I’m about to do.
And out of all the different PLR sources I have tried, there is only one where I can guarantee that, no matter what it is that I want, the quality will be top notch.
The company is called PLR.me, and they have an ever-growing library of content you can obtain within seconds.
What Does PLR.me Offer And Do They Work?
As at the time of writing this review, they have material available covering over five dozen categories (e.g. insurance, leadership, marketing), and over two dozen different product types (e.g. articles, fact sheets, lead magnets, as well as the types of content listed above).
In fact, they currently have over 13,000 products available – all of which you can brand as your own.
Unlike most PLR providers, where you buy content individually, PLR.me works a little differently.
Firstly, you need to sign up for an account, which is free.
Once you’re a member, you are able to download any of those thousands of pieces of content whenever you want – using credits.
When you join, you receive 2 free credits every month. (Note that these credits do not roll over from month to month, so you need to make use of them each month – which is easy to do, given how many products they have on their site.)
However, if you sign up using the instructions below, you will receive an additional ten free credits as a bonus for joining. (Note that these ten free credits do not expire, unlike the two you receive free each month.)
So, how many credits do you need?
Well, that depends on the type of content.
Many products (e.g. articles, affirmations, desktop wallpapers, worksheets, checklists) are available for just a single credit.
Reports (e.g. ebooks), email sequences, landing pages, and presentations start at five credits each, and then you can get complete courses for 50 or more credits.
So, you’re wondering how much these credits cost, which is a reasonable question.
Depending on how you purchase them, they cost anywhere from $0.40 per credit to $2,20 per credit.
The most expensive option is to pay as you go, or you can go for one of their subscription plans, which currently range from $99 / month (which gets you 100 credits) all the way up to $990 / year (which gets you a massive 2,500 credits), that bring the cost per credit down significantly.
What I Love About PLR.me
So, now you know a bit about this company, their products, and how it all works, what is it about them that makes them my first choice when buying PLR content?
- Their range of products is vast, and it grows all the time.
- The cost is reasonable, especially if you go for one of their annual subscription plans. Even better, they often bundle related products together, making it yet more cost-effective.
- The licensing rights are simple to understand, consistent, and are not overly restrictive.
- The site is easy to navigate with a clean design, and uses a font size that people can actually read. (Sites that insist on using a tiny font size have me clicking the Back button immediately.)
- The quality is by far the best I’ve ever seen. I’ve downloaded around two dozen different products since I became a member in February 2019, and the standard is consistently excellent. For example, I’ve found fewer errors in these products combined than you often find in a single article from other vendors.
- For many products, you receive a download file that contains multiple formats of the documents (e.g. Apple Pages, Microsoft Word, PDF), so they cater for most people’s technical needs.
- You can download what you purchase to your computer, or send the downloads directly to your Dropbox account.
- To the limited extent that I’ve had to use it, their customer support is easy to access and very responsive.
- You can select what topics you’re interested in (e.g. Life Coaches & Counsellors, Weight Loss & Fitness) so that you can be notified of when new content on those subjects is available.
- As a member, you also gain access to a variety of tools. I cannot comment on these because I’ve not had occasion to use them yet, but here’s the current list:
- Auto Slide Deck
- Coaching Email Templates
- Content Auto Loader
- Content Summarizer
- Dupe Examiner
- Image Animator
- Image Brander
- PayPal Link Generator
- PDF Brander
- Perfect Email Formatter
- Product Showcase
- Video Sales Letter Generator
- Virtual Fax Machine
- WP Swipe & Deploy
Is There Anything I Don’t Like About Them?
The only minor problem I’ve encountered is with a couple of their Microsoft Word documents, where the formatting needed a bit of tweaking.
This was apparently caused because the source documents were created using Apple Pages, and then converted to Word, and some of that format conversion was not 100% accurate.
It’s a minor problem that was easily sorted, and I only mention it here for full disclosure.
Other than that, I have no complaints at all, with the content, the site, the pricing, the customer service, or anything.
