Most of us appreciate a cell phone plan with a reasonable data limit, but for entrepreneurs, this is even more important. We choose this lifestyle so that we’re not tied down to working in an office for specific hours during the day, preferring to have the option to work almost anywhere.
The problem with that is, there isn’t always an available WiFi connection.
But, provided there is phone service, you can access the Internet using your data allowance.
Why might you need to use your phone in potentially weird places?
Well:
- To stay connected wherever you go (within reason, of course), so you’re always available to take that business call, answer that email, or process an order.
- To access the Internet on your laptop via your phone’s hotspot.
- To upload or download files.
- To join video calls.
- To use it as a back-up should your primary Internet provider’s systems be unavailable.
- You can create and upload videos (e.g., to YouTube, TikTok).
As you can see, having a phone with a sufficiently high data limit can be crucial to running your business the way you want to.
The problem is, many cell phone plans do not have a particularly high data allowance, and exceeding that limit can become costly.
It was certainly a problem for me of late because twice a year, I travel over 2,000 miles across the USA and have to rely heavily on my phone’s data plan.
The good news is that I came across a different phone company that offers unlimited data (as well as unlimited talk and text messages)!
